Charles M. O'Melia
|
| |
From the book 'The Stockopoly Plan' by the author Charles M. O'MeliaThere are several factors an investor in the stock market should consider:1. All stock purchases should be commission-free.2. Brian Weiss
|
| |
Ask this question to 100 people and you will receive 100 very different answers. The fact of the matter is there is no right age to start. But don?t fret (did I just say fret?) knowledge is power! To borrow a line from Star Wars, ?Use the force Luke.? The force I?m speaking of is compound interest. Since our main objective is to find an ideal age to begin saving, you have to understand the difference between simple and compound interest. This surprised the hunter and he landed beside the mouse."Why should I spare your life? I am hungry today.""It's always about today, isn't it?" answered the mouse. "Do you ever think about tomorrow?""Tomorrow? Well, that's just another day to flap my wings. I ... |

Charles M. O'Melia
|
| |
Defining a long-term investment in the stock market. For some ?long term? would mean holding a stock position over the weekend. For others, it may mean holding a security for at least 1 year for the purpose of declaring a long-term capital gain, thus saving on taxes. The rigid definition of a long-term investment in the stock market would be holding a security for a minimum of 5 years, to as long as 30 years.I?m going to tell you my definition of a long-term investment in a security by telling you a story. A true story! My Mother worked as a teller in a small bank in Dover, New Jersey. The name of the bank was called The Dover ... |
